Our Innovative Farming Approach

At Sustainabite Fresh Farms Ltd., we pride ourselves on our cutting-edge vertical farming techniques. Our system uses 90% less land and 95% less water compared to traditional farming methods. Moreover, we completely eliminate the use of pesticides or any chemicals, ensuring that our produce is as natural and healthy as possible. Our Basil is pre-picked, providing only leaves in the package, unlike competitors who include 50% stem weight in their products. This ensures that our customers receive the highest quality produce with maximum value.

A Vision for a Sustainable Future

Our success in sustainable farming has inspired us to take further steps to minimize our environmental impact. We are excited to announce our plans to develop a Direct Air Capture (DAC) system. This innovative technology will allow us to capture CO2 directly from the air and utilize it within our farm, thereby enhancing plant growth and making our farm carbon negative. By integrating DAC technology, we aim to ensure that all our operations actively remove more carbon from the environment than we emit.

Our Journey

The journey of Sustainabite Fresh Farms Ltd. began with a vision to provide locally grown, fresh herbs while addressing the environmental challenges of modern agriculture. Our founder, Ranjot Singh Dhaliwal, brought a wealth of expertise from his double masters in Agricultural and Environmental Engineering. Recognizing the lack of fresh vegetables available year-round in Canada, he delved into vertical farming to fill this gap and offer sustainable, high-quality produce to the local community.

Ranjot Singh Dhaliwal: A Passion for Sustainability

Ranjot's passion for sustainability is deeply rooted in his academic and professional journey. With a Master's in Agricultural Engineering, he initially worked as a research fellow, focusing on educating farmers about the adverse effects of traditional farming practices and the benefits of sustainable technologies. This experience deepened his commitment to environmental sustainability and inspired him to pursue a second Master's in Environmental Engineering. His academic pursuits were driven by a desire to understand and address the complex environmental challenges facing modern agriculture.

Upon moving to Canada, Ranjot was struck by the seasonal limitations on fresh produce availability. This realization ignited his determination to develop a solution that not only provided fresh, locally grown herbs year-round but also minimized environmental impact. Vertical farming emerged as the perfect solution, allowing him to leverage his expertise in both agriculture and environmental engineering to create a system that is efficient, sustainable, and scalable.
